Frequently asked questions
We've provided the answers to the most frequently asked questions people ask us when they're hiring a campervan below. If you can't see the information you're looking for please contact us so we can provide you with the information you need.
HOW DO I MAKE A CAMPERVAN BOOKING?
Simply send us an enquiry using the contact us form to check availability. We'll let you know if the dates are free, how much it will cost and what's included in the price. If you'd like to book just let us know and we'll send you a link to our online booking form. To secure your booking, just fill in the booking form and pay your deposit by bank transfer and we'll send your booking confirmation by email.
I'M UNDER 25, CAN I STILL HIRE A CAMPERVAN?
As long as you're 23 or over and have held your licence for at least 2 years, you should be able to hire one of our VW campervans. The only difference is that you'll be subject to a higher insurance excess, so we'll ask you to provide a security deposit of £750 instead of the usual £500. Please let us know you're under 25 when you contact us.
WHAT IDENTIFICATION WILL I NEED TO PROVIDE?
We have to see various forms of identification to satisfy our insurance provider. You don't need to provide these when you book but approximately 1 week before you collect the campervan we'll contact you to check your ID and remind you of what to bring with you so you have everything you need for your campervan holiday. We prefer to check all ID during the week before you arrive as this avoids any delays when you pick up the campervan, so we'll ask you to provide the following:
1. A copy of each driver's driving licence
2. A DVLA licence check code for each driver
3. Two other proofs of address for each driver that show the name and address as shown on their driving licence. The following are acceptable:
- Utility bill received within last 60 days (mobile phone bills are NOT acceptable)
- Bank or credit card statement received within last 60 days
- Payslip received within the last 60 days
We'll ask you to bring these documents on the day too. If you have an old style driving licence, you'll need to bring your passport too, so we've seen photographic ID.
If you have any queries with regards to the above, please don't hesitate to call us.

ARE THE CAMPERVANS HEATED?
Yes. The heating is brilliant, we've camped in the campervans in the snow (and so have many customers) and we've never had to worry about being cold! Check out this blog post about how the heating works in our VW campervans for more information.
Can i bring my dog?
Yes. Well behaved dogs are welcome in our campervans. We ask that dogs are not allowed on the seats in the campervans and are not left unattended.
What are the campervan dimensions?
You may need the dimensions of our campervans if you're travelling by ferry or Eurostar, some campsites ask for these to, so here they are:
Height: 2 metres
Width: 1.92 metres
Length: 4.9 metres
Height: 2 metres
Width: 1.92 metres
Length: 4.9 metres
What's included in the hire cost?
Our campervan hire charges include all the essentials, such as:
- Comprehensive insurance cover for 1 driver (driver must be over 25 and subject to our conditions)
- Breakdown cover
- Full tank of diesel when you pick up the van (we ask that you return it full too please :)
- Unlimited mileage
- Campervan essentials - see equipmentEquipment for full inventory
- Parking space for your car whilst you hire the campervan
- Satellite navigation
- A full demonstration of how everything works (please allow 30 minutes for collection)
Can i hire an awning to attach to the side of the campervan?
Yes. We have Vango AirAway awnings that attach to the side of the campervans. These are brilliant as they have inflatable tubes instead of poles so are quick to put up. They're easy to attach to the van, but you can detach them too, so when you go our for the day, they remain as a standalone tent and when you get back you just park your campervan next to it and re-attach it.
Can I hire a bike rack with the campervan?
Yes. We charge £50 for bike racks. Please let us know how many bikes you'll be taking with you so we can make sure your bike rack will fit them all. The maximum the bike racks will hold is 4 bikes.
How many drivers are we allowed?
Every passenger can drive if they want to, however, you must notify us when booking, who will be driving the campervan. One driver is included in the hire cost and additional drivers are charged at £25 per hire. All drivers must sign the rental agreement and provide the identification detailed above to validate the insurance.
Will i be shown how to use the campervan?
Yes. We recommend you allow 30-40 minutes when you collect your campervan for us to show you how everything works. There is a detailed user manual in the campervan and we're available 24/7 if you need any help whilst you're away.
How does the breakdown cover work?
Our campervans are covered under VW assistance. In the unlikely event that the problem cannot be fixed, we'll supply a replacement campervan if there is one available. If a replacement campervan is not available, we'll provide a refund for the days affected.
Can i take the campervan to europe?
Yes. If you opt for Europe cover we'll provide everything you need for taking the campervan outside of the UK. Please notify us at the time of booking.
Where do we collect the campervan from?
You'll collect the campervan from us in Sandiacre, which is on the border of Long Eaton and in the middle of Nottingham and Derby. We're located just 1 minute from junction 25 of the M1 in the East Midlands. Full address details will be provided with your booking confirmation.
What fuel does the campervan use?
Our VW campervans run on diesel fuel.
